Joaquin Phoenix, who was recently awarded Best Actor at the Golden Globes Award for his lead role in The Joker, portrayed Cash in the biographical film Walk the Line. Not to mention, Phoenix also won a Gloden Globe for Best Actor for this role. Needless to say, Cash has been memorialized for his musical talents on and off-screen. But, what many people didn't know was Cash had a soft spot for luxury cars, one of them being his black Lincoln Town Car.
Originally, the black Lincoln Town Car Cartier L was created for Men in Black, will be auctioned off at the famous Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Barrett-Jackson auction specializes in antique and classic cars, having car enthusiasts around the world attend the annual auction.
Cash's Lincoln Town Car Cartier L is quite the sight as it only has 29,000 miles on it. The Lincoln runs on a 4.6-liter V8 engine with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The interior features classic gray, a landaulet roof, and packed with a continental trunk.
The question many people want to know is where did the car suddenly appear from? Well, when Cash's wife, June Carter-Cash, died in May 2003, Cash decided to gift the car to his neighbors in Jamacia. Cash's neighbors had the classic car shipped to their residency in Germany, and have had it ever since. Cash passed away shortly after his wife in September 2003.
But, Cash's Lincoln Town Car Cartier L isn't the only celebrity vehicle up for auction. In addition to Cash's car, the late Dean Martin, Hollywood actor, and singer will have his 1980 Rolls-Royce Corniche two-door convertible up for auction. The Rolls-Royce has a 6.75-liter V8 engine, with a 3-speed automatic transmission finished with a classic black interior and silver exterior.
The Barrett-Jackson auction is well-known for its celebrity vehicles as Steven Tyler, lead singer of Aerosmith, sold his black 2012 Hennessey Venom GT Spyder, and Justin Bieber sold his 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia back in 2017.
