Ah, the circle of life. We are born, we are fortunate enough to get a dog, and we make it to college and beyond, with that same dog right next to us. These heartwarming stories about friendship between children and puppies are a great way to start our day with a smile.
When this young lady was just a 12-year-old, she became the happiest girl in the world, finally getting her biggest wish ‐ Dolly, the black lab! Her husband put up the picture and showed the world what a difference 13 years make, though, as most commenters were quick to say ‐ Dolly doesn't look a day over 8.
Similarly, this young man was 14 when he received his bundle of joy that he named Luke (Skywalker, of course), and from all the pics on the walls showing types of different dogs, we bet he was the happiest boy in all the land. Thirteen years later, Jacob still takes Luke to work every day and makes sure to remind him that the force lies within him always.
That couch in the background might say it all, with its 90s splendor and shiny grey fabric. Rachel was only 8 when she got Missy; this youngster didn't even ask for her! At first, she was scared of dogs, so her folks decided to bring home an all-cure, with fluffiness to spare. Nine years later and things have changed quite a bit. Missy no longer has yellow eyes, and Rachel has seemed to have a rather dramatic growth spurt!
Though Skippie the Westie does not seem to have aged much, his owner sure has. Fourteen years after the day Skippy found his forever home, his beloved dad, who has updated his sandal style pretty well, patriotically recreates that first happy meeting with his long-time buddy, and hopes for many more years to come.
Speaking of growing, it seems like these two have been on an ongoing "growing competition," and the results after almost 11 years are impressive! This German Shepard grins and bears it as his owner proudly presents his beloved companion to the world.
This Wheaten Terrier does not seem to enjoy the spotlight or being held, but his owner has a brilliantly bright smile that we're sure is (at least in part) because of having her best friend around for 14 years and counting. On the same Steps, same house, and same love, these two make a beautiful pair.
Nearly two decades! This one is quite the transformation, though the tiny dog remains the same. The owner, however (shout-out to Sabaton fans), is a new man, literally! In what looks like a house of his own, he has loved and cared for his best friend through thick and thin and seems all the happier for it.
This one is a shorter love-affair, but just as love-filled. Little Haley met her new friend even before she was born, while in her mom's belly. The first picture was taken the day she came home from the hospital. Three years later, though tired, her best friend looks just as happy as her for their friendship.
A quadruple threat, this foursome is a force to be reckoned with, 11 years in the making. Recreation pictures are always fun, but without any context, it seems clear who's the boss (the pointing one), the peacekeeper (pink helmet girl), and the one who lets things fly (looking at the dog). Clearly, the black beauty has had quite a handful, but it seems like she has enjoyed every moment of it.
Where did he go?? Our last entry comes without a year stamp, but a very clear growth stamp. Just look at that puppy, so cute and unassuming ‐ but you can also see the wheels turning in its mind. One day, he will grow so large, he'll make his owner disappear! Almost as long as an actual man, but more cute and fluffy.
